ACT Cape Town and CPUT Affiliation

ACT Cape Town has entered into an exciting affiliation with CPUT.

Both parties will benefit as follows:

1. CPUT will have direct and easy access to a data-base of beginner / intermediate and advanced actors. Similarly ACT will be able to draw on and have access to the expertise of CPUT’s 2nd and 3rd year film production students and CPUT equipment.

As a result, actors obtain additional on camera experience working on the various film projects as produced by CPUT as well as are afforded additional material / credits for show-reel and C.V purposes. In turn, CPUT film students are given access to various actors and have the benefit of working with them in their projects. Furthermore, the ACT Cape Town annual showcase shoot affords CPUT students the opportunity of working on set with a professional film director. Material is then showcased to industry professionals giving CPUT students exposure on a professional level.

2. An exchange program between departments was identified as an effective way of giving students an insight into the various aspects of movie making, most importantly directing and acting. Furthermore, it is a way of empowering students with additional tools and knowledge. This will involve CPUT Directors auditing a series of advanced acting classes at ACT and ACT actors auditing a series of directing classes at CPUT.
