About Bruce Young
Bruce spent 10 years working as an actor in South Africa and the USA before moving into the production end of the film business in Los Angeles for 5 years. He then returned to SA where he helped establish AFDA Film School. During this time he also established himself as a local screenwriter and has written scripts for a broad range of film genres and styles including feature films, television dramas, sitcoms and natural history documentaries.
His 2015 directorial debut film Blood Lions is an international documentary feature exposing the canned lion hunting industry in South Africa. It was recently awarded the Genesis Award by the Humane Society of the United States for Best International Feature Documentary. The film is part of an international campaign to end canned lion hunting. Other highlights have been his time as head-writer on League of Glory, the popular family drama for Mnet and writing the script for the award-winning documentary Kalahari Tails.
